Established in 2010 as a public charter school, IDEA Pharr is located south of Pharr, Texas, in the Rio Grande Valley. The ‘idea’ behind IDEA was to improve their community by helping more students pursue higher education, and from their inception they’ve had one simple goal: Send 100% of their students to college.
The administrative team is already delivering on their goal, and in 2014 U.S. News & World Report ranked IDEA in the top 1% of high schools in the United States.
The counselors and staff at IDEA Pharr help their students through every step of the college readiness process by offering a strong ACT preparation course, as well as individual support through the application, scholarship, and financial aid processes.
IDEA Pharr also wanted to provide students with an enrichment program, which led to the search for a way for students to benefit from an online learning format from a TEA approved institution. A simple online search led school officials to The Bridge School.
“We’re excited about the courses The Bridge School is offering,” says Janet Aranda, College Counselor at IDEA Pharr. The partnership with The Bridge School allowed IDEA Pharr to consolidate 63 students taking online courses into a much more efficient process.
The collaboration between The Bridge School and IDEA has opened up new opportunities and added value for their students by allowing them to pursue AP (Advanced Placement) courses, foreign language courses, and electives that help increase their ability to be accepted to top tier universities.
“Our students love the courses offered by The Bridge School,” says Ms. Aranda.
“Our partnership with the administration and students at IDEA Pharr has been fantastic. We appreciate their open feedback and communication because it enables us to create course plans that specifically meet individual student’s needs,” says Dr. Leonard Brown, Head of School at The Bridge School.
The Bridge School is a private online school providing 200+ courses. The school is located in Houston, Texas and is accredited by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI) and approved by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) through the Texas Private School Accreditation Commission (TEPSAC): School # 101-232-001.
