Dr. Spyros Catechis is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Bridge School. As CEO, Dr. Catechis is responsible for the overall management, strategic direction, and oversight of The Bridge School. After meeting with community leaders regarding the gaps in education services in the Houston area, Dr. Catechis founded The Bridge School as an alternative educational service for those students with various unique life circumstances.
During his career in education which spans over thirty years, Dr. Catechis has been intensely interested and involved in working with children and families who are facing adversity. Dr. Catechis has worked in a variety of roles with children and families as a school psychologist, certified teacher, and professor at the university level.
Mr. Conway began his career as an educator over 30 years ago. He has been a special education teacher, a school administrator, and has taught undergraduate courses in educational psychology and philosophy at the university level. He has a master’s degree in educational psychology and graduate coursework in school administration. For over 25 years he has worked with leading educational technology companies, including Jostens Learning, Simon & Schuster, Carnegie Learning, Class.com, and eChalk, to help them develop, market, and implement programs that were designed to have a positive effect on increasing the efficiency of student learning.
For the last 12 years, he has focused on leading the business development for innovative online learning programs in K-12 schools. At The Bridge School, Hugh is responsible for helping the school grow effectively while maintaining the ability to meet each individual student’s unique education requirements.
Myah Aquil has 15 years of education experience including four years acting as a liaison between Houston’s largest school district and a teaching staff of 73. She’s also excelled as a Title I coordinator, district PEIMS coordinator, and office administrator for both public ISD’s and charter school districts across the state. In short, Myah helps schools run smoothly.
Ms. Aquil is a recent MBA graduate who holds a certification in Human Resource Management from the University of Houston Downtown. And continues to look for ways to add useful skills to her repertoire.
She does her best to serve students, families and the community by promoting education, healthy lifestyles, and better alternatives to the status quo.
Tywanna Glapion is a retired Houston ISD assistant principal, magnet coordinator, and secondary teacher. Certified by Region IV, Mrs. Glapion was one of the first Computer Literacy and Virtual School teachers in HISD.
A long-time proponent of personalizing instruction for students by integrating learning management systems in the classroom, Mrs. Glapion believes that all students have the capacity to achieve success if given the opportunities and tools to be successful.
Cynthia Villegas works as the Business Coordinator for The Bridge School. She has several years of experience working for public and private elementary, middle and high schools. She manages the day-to-day accounting operations, budgeting and fiscal reporting that includes accounts payable / accounts receivable, budget and cash flow projections and management, vendor, and procurement management, financial analysis and compliance reporting.
In her spare time, Ms. Villegas enjoys traveling, spending time with family and preparing healthy meals.
