The Bridge School Appoints New Head of School

The Bridge School is pleased to announce the hiring of a new Head of School, Dr. Leonard Brown.

Dr. Brown has more than 13 years of experience as an administrator and classroom teacher in both middle school and high school hybrid learning environments.

“We are fortunate to have such a strong leader for our administrative team and our teachers. Dr. Brown’s knowledge about blended learning environments will be a big asset to our internal stakeholders, as well as our parents and students,” says Dr. Spyros Catechis, Founder and CEO of The Bridge School.

“I have seen the positive impact of online learning platforms, and I’m excited to be part of a school that really wants to leverage these solutions to serve the unique needs of each student,” says Dr. Brown.

Dr. Brown spent 9 years in the classroom and 4 years as a school administrator. Six years into his teaching career, Dr. Brown decided to take a break from education to serve his country in the military.  He served as an Attack Helicopter Pilot in the U. S. Marine Corps, and later worked as a Data Analyst and Subject Matter Expert for the Naval Strike Fighter Weapons School, Atlantic.

Dr. Brown’s interests include academic research, martial arts, physical fitness and serving youth in his church and community.  He and his wife Betti have two daughters and a two-year-old German shepherd, Thor.

The Bridge School, founded in 2007, is a private online middle and high school offering more than 200 courses. The school is Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI) and is
approved by the Texas Education Agency through TEPSAC: School # 101-232-001.

Students can choose from several options, including:

  • Full-time
  • Part-time to augment their current curriculum
  • Dual credit, AP and elective courses
  • Credit recovery
  • Credit by exam
